UNA Peer Mentorship Program
Sponsored by the COAS Ambassadors
The University of North Alabama College of Arts and Sciences Ambassadors are excited to launch the Peer Mentorship Program!
What are we about?
This program is an opportunity for high school students to get a headstart on preparing for college. Each high school student selected to participate in the program will be paired with a current COAS Student Ambassador Mentor.
This partnership is perfect for the student who needs extra help choosing a college pathway. The students will have opportunities to shadow current COAS Ambassadors in order to get a feel for what a college is really like.  They will learn about COAS majors/minors and various career paths. Participating students will also attend informational sessions on topics that freshmen in college frequently encounter, such study habits, personal banking, and time management.

Why Join Us?
Having a mentor to answer questions about the college journey will be extremely helpful in building confidence and preparing students for life after high school.

Who Can Apply?
The only student requirements are reliable transportation to the University and the desire to explore college options and opportunities. High school juniors and seniors are encouraged to apply! GPA is considered, but a holistic approach will be taken for admissions. Applications will be reviewed by a committee of student ambassadors and scored on a rubric. A maximum of 30 students will be selected for the program.

Components of the Program
  • Personal mentor
  • Life skills seminars (money management, time management, etc.)
  • A Day in the Life of a Lion! (accompany your mentor to classes)
  • Free ACT Prep
  • Certificate of completion to be presented at your high school graduation
